About hand block printing
Each motif is carved into a wooden block, dipped in dye and pressed onto the cloth by hand, one repeat at a time – so no two metres are identical and slight variation in the print is the signature of the craft, not a flaw. Tjori’s block prints come from Rajasthan (Bagru, Sanganer) and Kutch (Ajrakh), on Kota Doria, cambric and cotton slub. Natural dyes soften slightly after the first wash; wash cold, inside out and separately the first time.

How can I tell hand block print from screen print?
Look for slight misalignment where repeats meet and small variations in ink density – both are marks of hand printing.
Will the colours run?
Natural-dye prints may release a little colour on the first wash; wash separately once, cold, and they are stable after that.
