About Ikkat
In Ikkat the pattern is tied and dyed into the warp or weft threads before the cloth is woven, so the design is in the yarn itself and shows on both faces with a slightly blurred edge. Tjori’s Ikkat cottons come from the handloom clusters of Telangana (Pochampally) and Odisha. It wears like any cotton: cold wash, dry in shade.

Ikkat kurtas with solid cotton palazzos or dhoti pants; Ikkat ballerinas with plain cotton dresses; an Ikat clutch for a matched set. Other crafts: hand block, Ajrakh, Kalamkari.
